Abartys co-founder Dolmarie Mendez almost lost her life in 2010 because of a lack of access to
her own medical records. Unable to make informed decisions about what specialist to see,
what medications to take, and what treatment her insurance would cover, she was
overwhelmed by the fragmented data and confused by the maze of insurance requirements.
Having worked in health insurance for seven years, she was stunned at how complicated the
process was — and she couldn’t imagine how difficult it must be for
people outside of the industry.

Dolmarie met Lauren Cascio in 2015. Lauren was already tirelessly working to bring technology
solutions to address the same inefficiencies Dolmarie saw firsthand a few years earlier and
that haunt the industry still. After a year of running case studies and partnering with one of the
largest labs in the United States, Dolmarie and Lauren were ready to work with
their first health insurance company and helped them automate and streamline
patient and provider processes.

Since then, Abartys has focused on one mission — solving the global healthcare crisis by use of a centralized data hub that allows medical record portability, universal patient identification, and one-click administrative solutions for doctors. The executive team behind the vision brings over 30 years of experience in insurance, over 40 years of experience in healthcare, and over 25 years of experience in data science.
